Michael Narkunski is a Los Angeles-based New Yorker who crafts personal essays that deal with his homosexuality, relationships, mental health issues, growing up in the forgotten borough of Staten Island, and the occasional game show disaster. He also writes plays and teleplays, often still about these things.

 His essays have appeared in Out, Narratively, Hippocampus Magazine, Southeast Review, and two LGBTQ+ anthologies. He was selected for the Tin House Winter Workshop as well as the Lambda Literary Writers' Retreat. His plays have had readings and performances presented by Dixon Place, Philadelphia Artists' Collective, and New Ambassadors Theatre Company. He holds a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, an MFA from Stony Brook University, and currently serves as co-editor to The Queer Love Project.

He also still takes the bus to the ferry to the subway every day in his mind.
